A tragic incident unfolded in the Nadia district of West Bengal, where a son allegedly killed his mother by slitting her throat before taking his own life.
The incident occurred in Atagi village of Matiyari Gram Panchayat, under the jurisdiction of Kaliganj police station. The victims have been identified as Bhagwati Das (65) and Jitendra Das (43).
On Monday morning, Bhagwati Devi was found injured inside the house, while Jitendra was discovered hanging by his neck. Concerned neighbors immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and transported both bodies to Kaliganj Hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Jitendra first murdered his mother and then committed suicide by hanging himself. Neighbors have mentioned that the family was facing financial difficulties, which may have contributed to their tragic decision.
Upon entering the house, the police discovered Bhagwati Das in a critical condition, lying in a pool of blood, while her son was found hanging. The state of the house left the police astonished.
Authorities from Kaliganj police station have initiated an investigation into the incident. They are questioning neighbors and have seized various items from the house. The police are working to determine whether the case is one of murder or suicide. The cause of death will be revealed after the post-mortem examination.
The police are also checking the mobile phone records of the deceased to identify their contacts and gather further information.
